CONSTRUCTION COMPLETED ON THE ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL PARKING GARAGE

Four-Level Parking Garage Completed On-Time and Under Budget

New Bedford, MA --- February 2, 2009--- Whelan Construction, LLC has successfully completed its assignment as the construction manager for SouthCoast Healthsystem’s St. Luke’s Hospital new multi-level parking facility.  The four-level parking garage adjacent to the hospital was delivered “on-time and under budget” according to Whelan’s Vice President of Construction Tom Leclerc. The project took over 9 months to permit, included the closing of a City street, the demolition of an Historic Structure, and due to its location in an urban neighborhood, required carefully selected design elements to soften its impact on the neighborhood.  Careful planning and coordination enabled the project to be completed a month ahead of schedule and under budget with no disruption to hospital operations
